Delsie May Smith

Delsie May Smith, affectionally known as Dalzie, was born on June 1, 1953 in Bath Mountain, Westmoreland, Jamaica to Leonard Stone and Melzeta Watkin. She passed away peacefully at home on March 28, 2025 in Mulberry, Florida.

Dalzie devoted more than thirty years to a career in journalism at The Gleaner Company in Kingston, Jamaica where her passion for storytelling and community connection left a lasting impact.

Outside of work, she found joy in gardening, meeting new people and most of all spending cherished time with her family- especially her beloved grandchildren.

She is survived by her sons, Cary and Ramon ; grandchildren, Malcolm, Maya, Nina-Simone, Miles, Santos and Reynaldo ; siblings, Leopole, Clifford, Libert, Sylvia, Winston, Faval, Alphonso, Leopold, George and Reginald.

A Memorial Service will be held in her honor.
